The OTHERS version of PREPRO2026 comes with FORTRAN source codes, (SOURCES) and ALL of the data files needed for execution (RUN) both in compressed form - all of the files in the OTHERS package are in DOS format; you may need to convert the format for use on other types of computers, eg, DOS2UNIX. 1) Copy files SOURCES and RUN to your hard drive. First uncompress. After uncompressing you should have a directory named SOURCES and a directory names RUN that includes ALL data needed for execution. RUN initially contains 24 files that will you will need to run the executables. 2) The SOURCES directory contains files to compile, load and move all of the executables from SOURCES to RUN. Execute the batch file for your type of computer, e.g., IBMPC.BAT, LINUX.MAK, MAC.MAK, This could take between 5 and 45 minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your computer. If the plot codes EVALPLOT and COMPLOT fail to compile and load you may need to change the paths in the Makefile to the directory that contains your X-Windows routines, i.e. /usr/lib/X11 3) If all of the codes compile you should have a total of 22 executables - 16 in the directory SOURCES, 3 in the directory SOURCES/COMPLOT and 3 in the directory SOURCES/EVALPLOT. Copy or move all 22 executables to the RUN base directory - you should then have 46 file in your RUN directory = ALL the executables and data files needed to run ALL codes. 4) To VERIFY proper installation, it is recommended that after installation you execute VERIFY-ALL.BAT file. This is a batch file that will run ALL of the codes in sequence. The final two codes will display the calculated cross sections (EVALPLOT), and compare results you calculated to a standard set of results (COMPLOT). Difference of about 1 % to 2% are acceptable; larger differences indicate an installation problem. 5) After running VERIFY-ALL the RUN directory will contain many large ENDF formatted data files and report (.LST) files that you may not be interested in - you can either using the original RUN file with 46 files - or run CLEANUP to delete ALL of the files created by VERIFY-ALL. You may need to change commands in CLEANUP from DOS commands to what you use on your system, e,g, del to rm - copy to cp. 6) If you have any problems notify the Nuclear Data Section, IAEA, Vienna, Austria. services@iaeand.iaea.or.at
